Coding Language - 29 May 2023

Hey Everyone,

In today's post, I'm excited to delve into the coding journey behind my Rocket Pad application.

As I finished the prototyping phase of my app and began the development phase, the pivotal first step was selecting the software foundation for my app. After careful consideration, I narrowed it down to two contenders: Angular and React Native. Although React also caught my eye, ultimately, Angular and React Native emerged as the most promising options for my project.

While I had some prior experience with Angular from past assignments, React Native was somewhat uncharted territory for me. However, armed with positive feedback from past and present Master students from the course, thorough research and weighing the pros and cons, I made the bold decision to embrace React Native for Rocket Pad.

Admittedly, diving into React Native was a bit daunting at first. I embarked on an immersive learning journey. I delved into online tutorials, tackled small projects, and gradually built up my proficiency. Alongside React Native, I also embraced Expo—an invaluable tool for crafting universal native apps across Android and iOS platforms. Expo allowed me to display my application on my phone as I was developing the app.

With a solid understanding of the technologies at my disposal, I eagerly set to work on developing the Rocket Pad application.

In the next post, I will discuss the early artefact of Rocket Pad.

Hope you enjoyed this post looking into my major project.

See you soon.

Marcus.
